“Just listen to your gut, and on the way down to your gut, check in with your heart. Between those two things, they’ll let you know what’s what.” Ted Lasso

Q: What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda means “the science of life” in Sanskrit, the ancient Eastern language. It is a complete healing system focused on giving us the tools and practices to maximize our strengths and tend to our needs. Most importantly, Ayurveda doesn’t complicate our lives, it taps into our innate healing ability.

Q: What makes Ayurveda unique?

Ayurveda is personalized…it tailors its recommendations to our unique characteristics and needs.
Ayurveda is preventative…it teaches us how to listen to what our bodies are telling us and guides us to make choices that promote health and wellbeing . Ayurveda is practical…it simplifies our daily practices and routines by giving us the tools we need to meet our goals and objectives.

Q: What makes me unique?

We know Ayurveda promotes preventative, personalized & practical tools to ensure our health and wellbeing. To understand what makes you who you are, you need to understand what your essential nature is…who you are from conception. The more we understand about our essential nature, the better prepared we are to make the necessary choices and changes to bring balance into our lives.

Your constitution includes your physical structure, personality traits, complexion, such as how you respond to stress,  how you digest food, and how you interact in relationships. When you understand your true nature, you are able to better predict your mind-body tendencies. EX: I am comfortable making quick decisive decisions, I can’t digest certain foods, and I am not good at downshifting when under stress. I have always been this way and Ayurveda has taught me to embrace my unique self while building a support system for when I get out of balance.

A principle in Ayurveda is “like increases like and opposites are medicine.” So the next time you are feeling fire hot frustrated, don’t grab for spicy food or loud music, go for a cool glass of water, a piece of watery fruit or slow down to breathe full deep belly breaths. When you do, you will have balanced out the heat of frustration and not fed it.

By making lifestyle choices to honor your personal combination of qualities and characteristics, you bring yourself back to your essential nature—your true balance. When you're in balance, you feel healthy, energetic, and happy.

Take the quiz and learn something about yourself. This exercise is meant to gather information about your constitution, who you were since childhood and the realize the basic patterns that have driven you for most of your life. I promise there will be some AHA moments when you get your results and I’ll share some tips and tricks to get you started on bringing balance into your life.

Q: What does the initial consultation with Granted Wellbeing look like?

Our first consultation is focused on us getting to know each other. I’ll ask you to fill out a general health history before we meet. Our meeting will dive deeper to gather a more complete picture of you diet and lifestyle. We’ll explore what your top three health goals might be and then we’ll look at what your body is trying to tell you. Through the traditional Ayurvedic eight-part exam, we look at your general appearance, your tongue, eyes, and nails. We’ll then get even more personal and talk about what Ayurveda calls the three toxins…urine, sweat, and BMs. These toxins, along with the other areas we look at, tell us what is in balance and out of balance in your body and our life. I’ll also teach you how to take your pulse so you can assess if meals are truly nourishing you and understand your true nature through the cadence and intensity of your pulse. I promise the consultation is painless and it will greatly inform you on what your path forward should look like.

Q: Can I still enjoy coffee, alcohol and meat?

In a word…YES! How much, how often, and how to prepare them are the questions you need to ask yourselves. This is not complicated, promise!

But remember that when you do indulge more than you should (and we all do), don’t beat yourself up (which we all do). Savor the moment! Invoke childhood memories from that bag of Pepperidge Farm cookies each dipped into a stone cold glass of milk…oh wait, that’s me. And then get back to your healthy habits. I would also argue that those modest indulgences, when done in moderation, can be just as good for you as all the protein, carbs, and veggies we take in.

Q: How long does it take to start seeing results once I shift my daily habits and routines?

It depends! This is a phrase you’ll often hear from me. The good news is, this is all in your control and we have the tools, tips and tricks to get you on your way. You didn’t get to a state of imbalance, fatigue or dis-ease over night. So it may take some time to bounce back. Your commitment is progress in and of itself. The rest will come and it’s worth it.

Q: I know I want to feel stronger and well-rested but I don’t know where to start. What should I do?

The first thing you should do is take the quiz. Get to know yourself again or maybe for the first time. Self-awareness is the anchor to self-care. Once completed, I’ll then send you your results with a few recommendations to jump start your work toward creating a life you want to live.
